EMTA Council Meeting Minutes
Apr. 21, 2026
4:00-5:20 pm ~ Clarke MS
Building Reports:
* Barnum Woods: Can clubs be renamed? “Yes, both advisors have to agree and sign off on it”. Can clubs that are worth 20pts be dismantled to become 2 clubs of 10 pts each? “No, club points have to stay together.”
* Bowling Greene: Discussion on Special Ed, PD hours- frustration, APPR-feedback is different for the same lesson but 2 admins observing resulting in two different scores. Send all APPR likes/dislikes to James.
* McVey:
* Meadowbrook: Teachers are receiving “opt-out” of the union letters by mail, hard copy from Freedom Foundation. Be aware and careful!
* Parkway: PD- teachers being told and automatically signed up for training without being asked but when teachers request or sign up for PD they're being denied. Subs shortages are still a problem. Breakfast is offered and students are “late” to class, arriving in the room by 9:10.
* SRP: Chaperones for trips- nurses are invited as a nurse and not receiving chaperone pay. If the school nurse doesn’t go on the trip , the district hires a nurse from an outside agency and pays to attend the trip.
* Woodland: APPR- paperwork will be sent to James. Post-observation meetings have to happen when? “Within two weeks from the observation”. Question about retirement and when to submit the paperwork.. Teachers are asked to put information to be displayed on the new TV’s around the building- this is becoming a problem.
* Clarke MS: CAPS already approved? Teachers want to participate and can’t because the information wasn’t distributed or offered to everyone. CAP leaders are the same as last year. For ELA an email went out to everyone on Feb 9th and 10th about the CAP. NYS 457?- Dave Hungerford sent out an email with specific days and times he will be presenting and sharing information in each building.
* EMHS: Debra Harley retired? Not retired? Leslie coming into classes to observe- is that allowed? Question about schedules, duties, classes taught. Discussion about club points in the contract
* Clarke HS: May contract proposals- will there be a committee formed? “Yes, in September”. Student dress code not being enforced because the administration doesn’t want to deal with parents? James will mention this at the district meeting.
