About Us

The East Meadow Teachers Association is a federated organization composed of nine school facilities and the SRP chapter. Its activities function through an Executive Council constituting the president, vice-president and delegates from each school faculty along with the president of the SRP chapter and the immediate past EMTA president. The Council maintains a group of twelve standing committees through which its major activities are pursued.

The East Meadow Teachers Association is affiliated with the New York Sate United Teachers (NYSUT), the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the National Education Association (NEA), and the AFL-CIO.

Safe Schools For All

NYSUT is launching a new Safe Schools for All Task Force to hear from our members on the issue of school violence and get your input on next steps. The Task Force is charged with building a list of recommendations for how our state and districts can best support safe public schools at the center of every community.
